​9 Glorified Unhealthy Behaviours

Habits that aren't a badge of honour…




1.SURVIVING ON LITTLE SLEEP:

​

Getting enough sleep is essential for your health and well-being. It improves mood and mental performance, lowers the risk of disease, and allows for better emotional regulation and decision-making. It’s also the magic pill for losing fat, gaining strength, and building muscle.​




2. NOT TAKING REST DAYS FROM YOUR WORKOUTS:​


Building a better physique requires getting stronger.

You don’t need to work out intensely 6-7 days/week, and if you can, you likely aren’t pushing hard enough during those sessions to make progress. Taking at least 1-2 days to allow your body to rest and recover will lead to better results.​



3. LIVING OFF LOW CALORIES:


​Eating enough and training/movement is the winning combo that will give you the body and life you want, not always dieting and trying to lose the last 5-10kg. If you want to be energetic, vibrant, strong and healthy, you should live mostly at maintenance and only spend brief periods in a calorie deficit to chip away at fat loss not to mention, embodying a cleansing lifestyle for greater results.​



4. SKIPPING MEALS & GETTING BY ON CAFFEINE:​


I don’t know who needs to hear this.. but Coffee is not a meal. Your body and brain need enough nutrients to thrive, and taking the time to nourish yourself is a form of self-care. If you’re crashing in the afternoon or overeating at night, skipping meals or making poor nutrition choices are likely the culprit.​



5. CHASING CALORIES BURNED:

​

The purpose of your workouts isn’t to burn calories. It’s to build muscle, gain strength, and improve your mental and physical health. Instead, focus on lifting more weight, doing more reps, or performing an exercise with better form. That’s what will create the physical change you wish to see and make you feel more confident and empowered.​



6. STRIVING FOR PERFECTION:​


Not only is it an impossible standard to achieve, but it’s living in a prison trying to maintain it. While it might feel like an admirable trait, it’s often nothing more than procrastination in disguise, leading to more stress and self-criticism. Imperfection is a part of being human, so instead of beating yourself up when making a mistake, learn from it to do better at the next opportunity.​



7. SAYING YES TO EVERYTHING:

​

If you’re always saying yes or catering to the needs of others, you’re saying no to yourself. You deserve the time and space to nurture yourself and pursue your own goals, passions, and interests. Not setting yourself standards or speaking your truth is a recipe for burnout and resentment.​



8. ALWAYS BEING BUSY:


​Is your sense of self-worth tied to your productivity? Do you feel like you’re living in survival mode? Does stopping to be still feel unsettling? This is often an avoidance strategy for dealing with difficult emotions or feelings of inadequacy. Being a human DO-ing will never satisfy a sense of inadequacy you feel within yourself. But permitting yourself to take care of yourself will.​



9. CHASING A LOWER NUMBER ON THE SCALE: ​


Your leanest or lightest self doesn’t always mean your healthiest self. You can completely change the look of your body without losing much weight at all. But you can crash diet and over-exercise your way to a lower number and end up not liking what you see and or having the energy to live your life to the fullest.
